Ride Questions

When is Philly Bike Ride?

The 2025 Philly Bike Ride will take place on October 18, 2025 at 7:30 AM EST.

The Start Line is at the intersection of 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19130.

The Ride Finish and Finish Festival are at the intersection of Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy Philadelphia, PA 19130.

The 2025 ride will consist of 20-miles of Philly roadways, historic sites, and epic views. The course is flat and easy to navigate, designed to be approachable for all levels, featuring live music and entertainment throughout, as well as rest stops along the course to recharge and refuel with drinks, snacks, and portable restrooms.

Philly Bike Ride is a celebration, not a competition! It is a supportive community ride to cruise at your own pace with people of all backgrounds, shapes, sizes, levels, and ages!

Philly Bike Ride welcomes all riders age 3 and older! Children between the ages of 3-7 ride for FREE and must ride on a child bike seat, tagalong bike, tandem bike, in a bike trailer, or in a bike cargo. A parent or guardian must accompany youth riders in the age group of 8-17.

Philly Bike Ride is a rain or shine event. If there is rain in the forecast we recommend you bring a poncho or light rain jacket and a good pair of rubber sole sneakers.

Philly Bike Ride welcomes class 1, 2 and 3 e-bikes. Class 1 and 3 e-bikes have a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling. Class 2 e-bikes have a throttle. If you participate with a class 2 e-bike, you cannot exclusively use the motor to propel the e-bike for an extended period of time without pedaling.

Regardless of the pedal assist of the e-bike, the maximum speed of all e-bikes during our event cannot exceed 18 mph.

Please note that the motor of the e-bike cannot be more than 750 watts.

We offer a convenient Rent-and-Ride Pass option, which will reserve a bike and helmet for you to be picked up on the morning of the ride. And, our team will be onsite to fit it for you, ensuring a safe and comfortable ride.

Rider safety is our #1 priority! That’s why our course is completely car-free and amply marked with clear signage and fully staffed with volunteers, police, and other helpful folks to assist.

We also deploy mobile mechanics along the course and at rest stops to provide immediate assistance and small repairs.

And, for any unforeseen medical needs, we have medical stations throughout the ride and a dedicated medical emergency phone line.
We also offer a lift to all riders (and their bikes) who, for any reason, can’t complete the ride.

Snacks and refreshments will be available for FREE throughout the course to keep you fueled and hydrated. A variety of delicious meals and beverage options will also be available for purchase at the Finish Festival.

Premier Riders will receive a catered lunch in the Premier Lounge (included with the Premier Ride Pass registration).

All riders must begin at the Start Line before the official Ride start time. We ask that riders arrive by 7:00 AM EST to get situated in your corral. Philly Bike Ride is a closed-course ride with public safety officers regulating the street closures to provide a car-free experience, preventing us from allowing you to access the course after it officially starts.
The course is not designed to be ridden more than once. We work closely with police and traffic enforcement to re-open the roads immediately after the last rider leaves the start line corrals, preventing us from allowing you to access the course again.

A comfortable ride is key. A good pair of well-fitted sneakers are ideal. Padded bike shorts are great for preventing discomfort, but not essential. Feel free to express yourself with costumes, jerseys, or simply your favorite athletic wear. Keep an eye on the weather forecast so you can dress in the appropriate layers or have a poncho/rain jacket handy if necessary.

A fanny pack or bike pouch is handy for storing essentials like sunscreen, sunglasses, keys, phone, etc. Feel free to bring your favorite water bottle or use the official Philly Bike Ride water bottle included in your registration to refill at our hydration stations along the way.

The ride ends near [LOCATION]. NW., where the Finish Festival takes place from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST.

The Finish Festival features live music, food trucks, a beer garden, and more. Enjoy fun-filled activities with our partners and take advantage of several photo ops!

The Finish Festival is free and open to the public, so feel free to invite friends and family to celebrate with you afterwards!

The 2025 Official Philly Bike Ride Event Guide will be released this summer and is packed with helpful information, tips, and more.

In the meantime, you can sign up to stay up to date on the latest and greatest news and information.
