I’m a casual bike rider, is this competitive?

Our ride is a celebration, not a competition! This is a supportive community ride to cruise at your own pace with people of all backgrounds, sizes, levels, and ages!

I’ve never done anything like this before, is 20 miles a lot?

20 miles fly by when riding our flat, easy-to-navigate course designed to be approachable for all levels – especially with all the live music and entertainment throughout the course! Plus, we have strategically placed rest stops along the course to recharge and refuel!

Is there a shorter route I can take, or do I have to ride all 20 miles?

We want all our riders to have a great experience, so if for any reason you want to cut your ride short, we have a 10-mile alternate route just for you! Simply follow the “shortcut” signs along the route and save us a beer at the Finish Festival!

Will I get lost, confused, or stranded if my bike breaks down or am hurt?

Rider safety is our #1 priority! That’s why our course is amply marked with clear signage and fully staffed with volunteers, police, and other helpful folks to assist! We also deploy mobile mechanics along the course and at rest stops to provide immediate assistance and small repairs. And, for any unforeseen medical needs, we have medical stations throughout the ride and a dedicated medical emergency phone line. Plus, we can also offer a lift to all riders (and their bikes) who, for any reason, can’t complete the ride.

I’m more of an e-bike type of rider, are they allowed?

We get it, we all could use a little extra boost now and then! That’s exactly why we welcome class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes on our ride.

What if I want to ride, but don’t own a bike?

We got your back! We offer a convenient Rent-and-Ride Pass, which will reserve a bike and helmet just for you that can be conveniently picked up on the morning of our ride. And, our team will fit it for you to ensure a safe and comfortable ride.

Are there bathroom facilities along the course?

We make sure to keep you hydrated with water refill stations throughout the ride, so it’s only *ahem*, natural, that we make sure to have plenty of portable restrooms at the start line, at each of our rest stops, and the Finish Festival.

Ok, I’m IN! What do I need to bring and what should I wear?

A comfortable ride is key! A good pair of well-fitted sneakers are ideal! Padded bike shorts are great for preventing discomfort, but not essential.

Feel free to express yourself with costumes, jerseys, or simply your favorite athletic wear. Keep an eye on the weather forecast so you can dress in the appropriate layers or have a poncho/rain jacket handy if necessary.

A fanny pack or bike pouch is handy for storing essentials like sunscreen, sunglasses, keys, phone, etc. Feel free to bring your favorite water bottle or use the official Philly Bike Ride water bottle included in your registration to refill at our hydration stations along the way.
